In autumn in Kyoto, Japanese chestnuts from the long-established “Hayashi Manshodo” are available as souvenirs!
October is the season of new chestnuts, and when the season of chestnuts arrives, you want to eat “chestnuts themselves” and “real Japanese chestnuts” as they are, not “Mont Blanc cake” or “chestnut parfait” or other elaborate dishes.
Here is a store that chestnut lovers can’t get enough of.
The chestnuts made by “Hayashi Manshodo” are sweet chestnuts made from “Borotan,” a variety whose astringent skin can be easily peeled off, so it is easy and stress-free.
Moreover, freshly baked and freshly made chestnuts are only available at the store.
Then, we bought the three-colored dango from “Kofukudo” and chirimen sansho from “Kyo Kombu Senba” as souvenirs, which we wanted to buy at Nishiki Market.
Almost everyone in Nishiki Market is a foreigner, and it is as crowded as a Hatsumode (New Year’s visit) on the third day of the New Year!
I can’t walk straight!
Bump, bump…
Stepping on each other’s feet, shoulders touching…
Today is the day of Jidai Matsuri (Festival of the Ages), a beautiful day, and the city of Kyoto is back to peaceful times.
I’m so happy to be able to spend a rich time in these troubled times with the war between Russia and Ukraine, conflicts in the Middle East, and so much more.
Thank you very much!
